The Teme Valley

The Teme Valley is a picturesque rural region that stretches across northwest Worcestershire, Shropshire, and Herefordshire. This area is centred around the River Teme, which is recognised as one of the fastest flowing rivers in Europe. The valley is celebrated for its serene and largely untouched landscape, historic orchards, and fabulous walking trails.

The area is especially popular with those who enjoy walking and cycling. There are numerous scenic walking routes, including the Worcester Way, which provide opportunities to explore the tranquil countryside. A custom printed OS map is provided for use for our guests.

The area surrounding Tawney Wood is celebrated for its historical sites, most notably the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb. This exceptional venue is recognised as the world's oldest continuously operating motorsport location. It regularly hosts a variety of historic motor sport events, offering visitors a unique and unmissable experience.

The valley is also distinguished by its productive fruit orchards and hop fields, with mistletoe growing wild in many trees. Local cider and hop production are integral to the area’s agricultural heritage. Tenbury Wells, the nearby market town, has maintained a unique tradition of selling mistletoe for over a century, making it the only surviving mistletoe market in the country.
